The Stables is on the Harburn Estate in West Lothian. It used to be part of the old steading, so the layout is a bit quirky. Rooms are spread out, which is good for a big group. It sleeps eleven, in five bedrooms with four bathrooms.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not ultra-modern. The ground floor is all on one level, which is handy. There's a twin room and a master bedroom with an en-suite down there. The kitchen has a stable door and an old stone wall. Upstairs are three more bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The windows all look out over different parts of the estate. You'll see gardens, some woods, and the parkland. It's quiet.
You can walk to the Harburn Golf Club. They have a bistro there called Bistro19 that does food and drink. For shops or more restaurants, Livingston is about ten minutes away by car.
Edinburgh and Glasgow are both about a 40-minute drive. You can get the train from West Calder station too. Stirling, the Trossachs and Loch Lomond are all under an hour away if you fancy a day trip to the hills.
In terms of what's here: there's a garden and a BBQ, a washing machine, dishwasher, and Wi-Fi. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and a highchair. There's parking right outside. No pets, I'm afraid.
For planning days out, the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park website is useful.
