Farmer Oaks Hut
Farmer Oak’s Hut is a delightful, traditional shepherd’s hut, with the owner living on-site, perfect to getaway from it all or as somewhere special to return to at the end of a long day sightseeing. Surrounded by an enclosed garden, which itself is surrounded by a small orchard and wild flower meadow and mature trees, with views over the surrounding countryside, you can really appreciate rural Devon at its best. Along with the sitting out areas, there is an outdoor cooking area with a cook book, to really take full advantage of the experience. Directly from the grounds there is access to a beautiful woodland walk which is signposted and accessed over a stream via a wooden bridge. There is an award-winning farmshop and four pubs within 3 miles.
This part of Devon has much to offer the visitor – there is the famous Pannier Market in Tavistock, and Launceston Castle close by . Both of these towns offer a choice of shopping. The city of Plymouth is situated 25 miles to the south with its famous Barbican and Lido. Dartmoor National Park is approx. 7 miles away at Lydford. The cottage is only a 10-minute drive form the A30 making Bodmin Moor and the sandy beaches of north Cornwall less than 40 minutes’ drive. Water sports and fishing are available locally at Roadford Lake, 5 miles away. There are also five major National Trust houses and three preserved steam railways all within a 30-mile radius of the cottage.
