Pheasants Hill Old Byre is my place in Buckinghamshire. It's a converted cow barn next to our farmhouse. It's just for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom, all on the ground floor.
The bedroom has a big oak bed my grandfather carved over a hundred ago. It's solid. The paintings around the place are by my father.
You share the one-acre garden with us. It's fully enclosed. There's a table and chairs for you to use out there. We don't use chemicals on it, so it gets a lot of bees and butterflies. There's a wildflower meadow that comes up with cowslips and orchids.
It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable. Underfloor heating, a walk-in shower, a dishwasher. The hot water and heating runs on renewable electricity. We collect rainwater for the garden.
You're in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty here. The Hambleden Valley is right outside. There's a shop and a pub about half a mile down the lane. For a longer walk, you can get straight onto the Chiltern Way.
Within about half an hour you can drive to places like Henley-on-Thames or Marlow. Waddesdon Manor, which is National Trust, is about 20 minutes away. For wider planning, the National Trust Chilterns and Chilterns AONB sites are useful.
We allow up to two dogs. There's parking on the drive.
