Glas Doire Lodge is a detached bungalow in Bohuntine, up in Glen Roy. It's a working crofting area, so you'll see sheep and cattle around. The place is all on one level and has proper wheelchair access, which is good. The wet room has grab rails and a shower seat.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, but not luxurious. It's a practical sort of place.
It's very quiet up here. The views from the windows are over open countryside. The garden is enclosed. You get a patio, a barbecue, and parking right outside.
Inside, there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.
The house is secluded, but it's not isolated. The local shop, a pub, and a restaurant are about two miles away in Roybridge. For a big supermarket, you'd go to Fort William, which is about a 20-minute drive.
Glen Roy itself is a National Nature Reserve. It's famous for the 'Parallel Roads', which are these ancient shorelines from the ice age on the hillsides. They're interesting to see if you like that sort of thing. It's good walking country right from the door.
Within half an hour you can be in Fort William. From there you can get the steam train to Mallaig, which is the one they used in Harry Potter. You can visit the Ben Nevis distillery, or start the walk up Ben Nevis if you're feeling brave. Boat trips on Loch Linnhe leave from there too.
For other days out, you're well placed for the west coast around Arisaig, or heading down the Great Glen. Lochaber Geopark has a lot of information on the area. The NatureScot website has details on Glen Roy and other reserves nearby.
No pets, I'm afraid.
