Glas Doire Lodge

Glas Doire Lodge is in Bohuntine, up Glen Roy. It's a single-storey, detached lodge, so all on the ground floor. It's set back from the road and feels very private, with open views.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. The bathroom is a wet room, which is good for accessibility. There's a pull-down shower seat and grab rails.

The place is in a working crofting area. You'll see sheep and cattle wandering about, especially in winter. They're not in your garden, but they're around. It's very quiet.

The inside is spacious. You get a washing machine, dishwasher, and WiFi. There's a TV. The patio is enclosed, which is handy. Parking is right outside.

The shop and the nearest pub, the Glengoyne, are about two miles away in Roybridge. It serves food.

Glen Roy itself is a National Nature Reserve. The "Parallel Roads" are the big feature here. They're these lines on the hillsides from an ancient lake in the Ice Age. Good for a walk.

Fort William is about a 20-minute drive. That's where you'll find bigger supermarkets and the start of the road to Mallaig. You can get the Jacobite steam train from there in season. The Ben Nevis Visitor Centre and Distillery are that way too.

For walking, the Great Glen Way is nearby. For cycling, you've got the trails at Nevis Range. Lochaber in general has all the outdoor stuff: kayaking, climbing, skiing in winter. It's all within half an hour.

If you want a day trip, heading out west to Arisaig or Ardnamurchan is a good drive, about an hour. The beaches out there are proper white sand.
