This is Creagach. It's in Culkein, up in the Assynt part of the Scottish Highlands. The house is detached and on its own bit of land, which is part of a working croft. You'll see sheep and cattle around.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is modern and well-built, with underfloor heating from a ground source pump. There's a wood burner in the living room for atmosphere.
The main thing is the view. You look straight out over the sea to the mountains. Suilven, Stac Pollaidh, and Quinag are all right there. There's a little rocky harbour just below the house. You can launch kayaks from there, or just watch for seals and otters. Dolphins are seen sometimes.
The nearest proper shop is about three miles away. For a pub or restaurant, you need to go to Lochinver, which is nine miles along the coast. It's a small fishing port with places to eat and a good butcher. The beaches at Achmelvich and Clashnessie are a short drive away. They're white sand and very clean.
Inside, it's all on one level except for a couple of steps down into the sun room. The doorways are wide and there's a walk-in shower, so it works if someone has mobility issues. There's parking right outside.
In terms of things to do, it's mostly about being outside. Walking, climbing, kayaking, or fishing. The area is quiet. If you want visitor centres or lots of shops, it's not the place. It's for switching off and looking at the landscape.
Facilities are straightforward: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
If you're planning trips, the VisitScotland page on national parks has good info, and the Walkhighlands site for Sutherland is excellent for routes.
