The Dairy

This is The Dairy. It's a cottage in Delph, which is part of Saddleworth just on the Manchester side of the Pennines. It's on our farm, set back from the road in the courtyard. It used to be the milking parlour, so it's not huge, but it's just for two people.

It's rated 4 Star, which feels about right. It's comfortable and clean. There are some old beams inside from the conversion, which are nice but you do have to mind your head in one or two spots.

You've got your own little patio area out the front. Parking is right there. There's a washing machine, and all the bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.

Delph village is a ten-minute walk. There's a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a chippy. The local walking is the main thing. The Pennine Way is about a mile from the door. You can be up on the moor in no time.

Marsden is a ten-minute drive the other way. It's a proper Yorkshire village with a good few pubs. The National Trust Marsden Moor Estate is there if you want a guided walk. The Standedge Tunnel visitor centre is interesting if you like canals.

You can get to Holmfirth in under half an hour. Huddersfield and Halifax are within an hour, if you need a bigger town. Manchester city centre is about 45 minutes by car, depending on traffic.
