Haagwood Cottage

Haagwood Cottage is in Kilberry, on the west coast of Kintyre. It's a detached cottage, so all on its own. You look out over the sea towards Islay and Jura.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and warm, with a woodburning stove in the living room. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs.

It gets quiet here. There's a shop and a cafe about a mile away, and a pub at the same distance. The pub serves food. For a bigger shop or a meal out, you'd drive to Tarbert. That takes about half an hour.

If you want to get on the water, the ferry to Islay and Jura leaves from Kennacraig, which is a 20 minute drive. There are other ferries for Gigha and Arran from further down the peninsula. Westport Beach is good for surfing, and it's about 45 minutes south.

Around here, you're really walking or driving to see things. The Kilmartin Glen archaeological sites are about 40 minutes north. The Crinan Canal is up that way too. For a proper swim without the sea, Portavadie has a pool and spa, it's over the ferry from Tarbert.

Facilities: everything you'd expect is here. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs.
