Ghillies At Riverside is a shepherd's hut near Inchnadamph, in the Assynt area of the Highlands. It sleeps two people. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's well put together and comfortable.
It's in a large garden, quite secluded. You park by the river and walk a short way along the bank to get to it. The river, the Traligill, is right there. You can see it from the hut. There's salmon and trout fishing if that's your thing.
The hut itself is open plan. The bed is a full-size double, built into the main window. There's a small kitchen area and a shower room at the other end. It's all done to a good standard, with solid wood floors. It's double glazed, so it's warm. There's a little separate shed next to it, which we call the 'wee ghillies', for boots and wet gear. Outside, there's a fire pit you can use as a barbecue, looking over the river.
Deer come through the garden regularly. You might see eagles, otters, or pine martens around too. The area is famous for its geology and archaeology, if you're into that. For walking, you're right in the middle of it. The North Coast 500 road goes past nearby. It's good for climbing, kayaking, and cycling locally. The beach at Achmelvich is about fifteen miles away.
The nearest shop or place to eat is about twelve miles, in Lochinver. The pub in Inchnadamph is just under fourteen miles. You really need a car. It's very quiet.
Facilities: WiFi, bedding and towels are included. There's parking. No pets.
