This place is called Egypt. It's a detached house near Sandwick, on South Ronaldsay in Orkney. The name comes from a little stream nearby the locals called the Nile, so you'd cross the Nile to get to Egypt.
It sleeps seven people in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. You can bring up to two dogs.
It's up a rough farm track, so the approach is a bit bumpy. Once you're there, the views are really good. It looks out over the fields and the sea. The house is well equipped. It's got everything you'd need, like a washing machine and dishwasher. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. The garden is fully enclosed, which is handy if you've got dogs. Bedding and towels are included.
The nearest beach is about a ten minute walk. It's a proper sandy beach. The local village is St Margaret's Hope, about four miles away. It has a shop, a pub, and places to eat. Kirkwall, the main town, is a half hour drive. They've got all sorts of shops there, plus the cathedral.
Orkney is brilliant for history. Skara Brae, Maeshowe, the Ring of Brodgar, and the Italian Chapel are all within about a thirty minute drive. For whisky, you've got the Highland Park and Scapa distilleries nearby too.
If you like walking or birdwatching, you're set. The coastline here is spectacular. You can get ferries out to some of the other islands from Houton, which isn't far.
