Auld Kirk House is in Westruther, a village in the Scottish Borders. It's about an hour's drive from Edinburgh. The building used to be a church. They’ve converted it, so you get the high vaulted ceilings and big windows. It's detached.
It sleeps ten people. Five bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom, so there are five bathrooms. The stairs are the original ones from the church. They're fine, but they are quite steep in places, as you'd expect.
Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor along with a wet room, so it works for wheelchair access or if anyone doesn't want to use the stairs much. The main living space is open plan, with a wood burner and big doors out to the garden. There's a hot tub outside.
Westruther is quiet. There's a local pub. The Lammermuir Hills are right there if you like walking. For a day out, Melrose Abbey is about half an hour away. So is Abbotsford House, which was Sir Walter Scott's place.
You can get to the coast at North Berwick or Dunbar in roughly 45 minutes. Edinburgh city centre is just over an hour by car if you fancy that.
Facilities: there's an electric vehicle charger, a washing machine, a cot and highchair if needed, and bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
