Mulberry Cottage - Casa Bonita
This is Mulberry Cottage, though we tend to call it Casa Bonita. It's a thatched cottage in Shalbourne, which is on the Wiltshire side of the Wiltshire/Berkshire border. It's detached and you get the whole place and the garden.
It sleeps nine people. There are five bedrooms and five bathrooms, which is handy. The main house sleeps seven, and there's a separate annexe that sleeps another two. That's good if some of your group want a bit of privacy. The stairs are quite steep and we'd prefer it if you go shoeless upstairs, please.
Downstairs is mostly open plan. You've got the kitchen and dining area that leads out to the garden. Then there's a snug, a living room, and an orangery with a TV. There's an open fire and a wood burner in there but they're not to be used, they're just part of the cottage.
Outside, there's a garden and parking on the drive. The village is quiet. There's a pub, The Plough, within walking distance. For a bigger shop, you'd want to drive to Hungerford or Marlborough.
Marlborough is about a 20 minute drive away. From there you can get onto the Ridgeway for walking. The National Trust has quite a few places nearby like Ashdown House. Visit Kennet has good information on the local area too. If you want to go further, Avebury stone circle is about half an hour away.
Facilities: there's WiFi, a TV with Sky in the orangery, a dishwasher, and all the bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
