Oak Cottage is on our farm near Ware in Hertfordshire. It's a barn conversion so it's one long open room downstairs with the kitchen, dining and sitting area all together. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a bathroom. It sleeps four.
You’ll see the farm animals from the windows. We've got cows, sheep, chickens, and a few donkeys. The chickens provide eggs you can have during your stay. The patio is private and looks out over a field.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well-finished and comfortable. The facilities are what you'd expect: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside.
You can bring one dog. There's a highchair and a cot if you need them.
Ware is the nearest town, about five minutes by car. It's got shops, pubs, and a few places to eat. For a bigger day out, Cambridge is roughly 40 minutes away. You can get the train to London from there or from Bishop's Stortford, which is about a 20 minute drive.
If you like walking, the local paths are good. The Lee Valley Park is nearby. For a historical visit, English Heritage has properties like Audley End House within a half hour drive.
It's a working farm, so there will be vehicles and activity during the day. It's generally quiet by the evening.
