This is Druimbhan, or Railway Cottage, in Lochailort. The road here is one of the most scenic in the country. You'll pass Glenfinnan Viaduct on the way.
It's a compact cottage for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's warm and comfortable.
The bedroom windows overlook a burn and a small waterfall. You can hear the water running. The living room has a wood burning stove and a corner suite. There's a washing machine in the utility room.
The local train line is very close, less than 200 yards away. You can hear the trains, including the steam train in the summer. It's a request stop, so it's not constant. If you want to take the train to Mallaig or Fort William, you need to book ahead and flag it down.
There's a local inn a couple of minutes walk away. It serves food, but only from Easter to October. The next nearest pub is about nine miles away, but the drive there is spectacular.
The coast road from here to Arisaig and Mallaig has some beautiful white sand beaches. Mallaig is a working fishing port. You can get fresh fish there and also catch the ferry to the Isle of Skye. A good day out is to take the ferry to Armadale, drive around Skye, and come back via the bridge past Eilean Donan Castle.
We accept one dog. There's a dog bed, bowl, and towel here, and a hose outside for washing muddy paws.
