Keepers Cottage
Keepers Cottage is in Durisdeer. That's in the Lowther Hills in Dumfriesshire. It's a semi-detached cottage, rural and quiet. The views are good, mainly hills and fields.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one proper bathroom with a shower, and a roll-top bath in the master bedroom. The place was done up completely in 2021, so everything is new and it's got a 5 Star rating. It's very comfortable.
The stairs are a standard cottage staircase. The living room has a wood burner. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a dishwasher and washing machine. You can bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed and private.
Durisdeer is a small village around a green. The church is worth a look. For shops and a few places to eat, Thornhill is about six miles away.
Drumlanrig Castle is close. It's good for walks and has mountain bike trails. You can easily spend a day there. The Solway Coast is about a 30 minute drive if you fancy a change from the hills.
There's an outdoor wood-fired sauna you can use, but you need to book that in advance.
