Leys Barn

Leys Barn is on the edge of a hamlet called Building End. It's in north Essex, fairly near the Cambridgeshire border. The views out the front are over farmland and some woods.

It sleeps five in three bedrooms, with two bathrooms. The main living space is all on one level, which is open plan. It was converted about twenty years ago. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean but not high-end. The garden is a suntrap.

You're about a mile and a half from the nearest pub that does food. For a proper shop, you'd need to go into Saffron Walden or Haverhill. If you like walking or cycling, you can start right from the door.

Cambridge is about a 30-minute drive. You can see the colleges, go to the Fitzwilliam Museum, or try punting on the Cam. For a day trip, Audley End House is close by. So is the National Trust's Wimpole Estate, which has a farm. The coast at Southwold or Aldeburgh is just over an hour's drive.

London is about an hour and a quarter on the train from Audley End or Cambridge.

Facilities: there's parking, wifi, a washing machine, and bedding is included. You can bring one dog.
