Druids Knowe is in Tarfside, which is up Glen Esk north of Brechin. It's a detached house. Glen Esk is quiet, properly out in the countryside. It feels remote but you're not miles from a road.
The house sleeps six. Three bedrooms, all doubles. Two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up recently so everything works and it's clean, but it's still an old house, so the walls are thick and the windows are small. It's comfortable.
There's a wood burner in the living room. The kitchen is open to that room. You get the whole garden, front and back. There's parking right there.
You're here for the walking. The hills start at the door. Mount Keen is a few miles west if you want a Munro. For a gentler stroll, the Glen Esk Retreat and Folk Museum is just along the road. It's a small museum about the glen.
If you drive for half an hour, you can get to the coast. Montrose, Lunan Bay, St Cyrus. They're good beaches. In the other direction, about thirty minutes, you can get onto Deeside. The Cairn o' Mount road is a great drive. Balmoral is further on up that way.
We allow two dogs. There's a stairgate and a cot if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. All the usual things are there: washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, TV.
Useful links if you're planning: National Trust Scotland for some properties in the area, and Cairngorms National Park as you're on the edge of it.
