Mossdale Cottage

Mossdale Cottage is in Bellsbank, which is up in the hills near Dalmellington. It's a detached stone cottage, so you're on your own up here. The main thing is the view. You look south over the Doon Valley, and because it's in the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park, the night sky is very dark. The picture window in the lounge is good for that.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. There's a woodburning stove for cooler nights, and a private hot tub outside.

You're right on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park. It's a massive area for walking, cycling, or just driving through. The scenery is proper hills, forests, and lochs. You might see deer. The official site for planning is Forestry and Land Scotland.

For coast, you drive down to Ayr. That takes about half an hour. Ayr, Troon, and Prestwick have the sandy beaches and golf courses. The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs through there if you want a long walk.

There's a lot of history around. Burns Cottage in Alloway is the obvious one. Culzean Castle is spectacular, it's on the cliffs. The National Trust for Scotland page is here. Dumfries House is also worth a visit.

Facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. The garden is enclosed. You can bring up to two dogs.
