Dalnaglar Castle
Dalnaglar Castle is the epitome of fairytale magic, a white-washed turreted gem tucked away in the heart of Perthshire within viewing distance of the Cairngorms National Park. Surrounded by well maintained lawns with a pond, guests may wander freely in the extensive grounds. The castle sits within its own private estate, with just five cottages and the castle, with some of the best walks in Scotland passing through the grounds, and many others a short drive away. There is also a fully stocked, private loch for the castle residents to fish if you wish.
The estate is 1½ miles from the main road and accessed by a private track, the property was originally built in the 18th century as a hunting lodge and enjoys a lovely situation, perched on an elevated setting in the heart of Glenshee. An ideal size for larger parties wishing to get together for family gatherings or a special occasion with friends, the interior will delight you, with elegant furnishings, a well-stocked library, grand drawing room and comfortable, spacious bedrooms.
Dine in style in the beautiful dining room that overlooks the gardens and go over the day’s events while planning the rest of your holiday. This detached castle is just a short drive from the popular ski resort. For the outdoor enthusiast, there is easy access to the Southern Cairngorms where many Munros tempt the keen walker, while the Cateran Trail is a short drive away offering higher levels of walking. Kayakers and canoeists have an abundance of challenging rivers to explore year round. Dalnaglar Castle makes for the perfect place in which to relax after a busy day exploring, unwinding in the glorious surroundings. On the banks of the River Shee, fishing is available by prior arrangement and other activities include stalking, clay pigeon shooting and pony trekking. The enthusiastic golfer has over 100 courses in the surrounding area to choose from, and further afield the cities of Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee offer a huge variety of cultural and leisure opportunities.
