The Old Vicarage is in Stowe by Chartley, a quiet village. It's a large house, Victorian I think. It sits in the middle of its own garden, with views over the fields at the back.
It sleeps eight people in four big bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. One is ensuite to two of the bedrooms, a Jack and Jill setup. The other has a bath and a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well finished.
Downstairs, there's a lot of space. The kitchen is open plan with a dining area. It has granite worktops and one of those big Belfast sinks. There's a wood burner between the kitchen and the main living room. Actually, there are two separate living areas, so people can spread out.
The garden has a lawn and a patio with seating. It's a proper garden, not just a yard.
The village is small. There's a pub about 500 yards away that does food. The nearest shop is a mile and a half, in the next village. You'll need a car.
It's a good spot for getting out. Cannock Chase is about a 20 minute drive for walking and cycling. National Trust Cannock Chase. Alton Towers is half an hour away if that's your thing.
Stafford is ten miles one way, Uttoxeter is six miles the other. Both have supermarkets and the usual town things. Uttoxeter has a racecourse.
For a day out, you can follow the canal or go to the Churnet Valley Railway. The pottery museums in Stoke are about a 30 minute drive. The Wedgwood factory is even closer.
Practical stuff: it's wheelchair accessible at the entrance. There's parking on site. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. You can bring up to two dogs. There's bike storage if you need it.
