Riverbank Cottage is in Althorpe, Lincolnshire. It’s detached and sits right on the bank of the River Trent. The view from the sitting room is just the river and fields opposite.
It sleeps eight, but that’s six adults and two children. There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bedroom is on the ground floor, which is a twin. Upstairs there’s another twin, a double, and a children’s room with a small single and a pull-out bed. That one really is just for kids, it’s quite tight.
You get an enclosed garden with a south-facing patio. There’s furniture and a barbecue. Parking is on a drive that’s about eight feet wide, so it fits one, maybe two cars if you’re careful.
Inside, there’s a wood burner in the sitting room, a separate TV snug, and a decent kitchen with a dishwasher. There’s also a utility room with a washing machine. We provide bedding, and there’s a cot and a highchair if you need them.
Althorpe itself is quiet. The village pub closed, but there’s a good one called the Ferryboat in the next village, about a mile and a half away. The nearest shop is a mile.
It’s a good spot if you like walking or cycling along the river. There are a few golf courses a short drive away. For a day out, Epworth is close, which is where John Wesley was from. The Yorkshire Wildlife Park is popular. Lincoln, York, Beverley, and Hull are all within an hour’s drive.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. We ask that they stay off the furniture and you clean up after them.
