Tigh Na Maraiche

Tigh Na Maraiche is in Keils, which is a crofting area just outside Craighouse on Jura. It's a detached cottage, so you're on your own. The garden has a view down to Small Isles Bay.

The cottage sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxury. It's a traditional build, so the ceilings are wood-lined and it feels quite old-fashioned inside, but you've got WiFi and a decent kitchen.

The main thing in the living room is the stone fireplace with the wood burner. It's good for cooler evenings. There's a sunroom on the front that you go through to get in. It's a bright spot to sit.

Outside, there are two stone outbuildings. One has a washing machine and freezer. The other is for storing bikes or kayaks if you've brought them.

You can walk down to the shore in about five minutes. Craighouse village is about a ten minute walk. That's where the shop is, the Jura hotel, and the distillery. The shop is the post office too, so it's useful.

Jura is quiet. The roads are single track. People tend to wave when you pass. If you want to walk, the Paps are there. You can also get the ferry to Islay from Port Askaig, which is about a 25 minute drive from the cottage. They've got more distilleries over there if that's your thing.

For facilities: It's all on the ground floor. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, parking right outside, and bedding is included. You can bring up to two dogs.
