River Test View is a one bedroom cottage on the edge of Wherwell. It sleeps two people. It's detached, so it's quiet. You get the cottage and your own garden to yourselves. The main garden area is shared with me, the owner, but that's mainly just the lawn leading down to the riverbank.
The view is the main thing. It looks straight out over the River Test valley. You can see the water meadows. There's a decked area at the back where you can sit and look at it. It's a five star place, which means it's been done up to a high standard. It's got a dishwasher, washing machine, all that.
The cottage is on the Test Way walking path. You can step out of the garden gate and be right on it. It follows the river. Wherwell village is about a five minute walk down the lane. There's a good pub there. The village itself is very pretty, the sort you see on calendars.
If you're bringing a dog, that's fine. We allow one. The garden is enclosed, but it's not totally escape-proof for a very determined small dog, so you'd need to keep an eye on them. They'll love the walks from the door.
For fishing, you've got the Test right there. It's famous for it. You'd need to arrange your own day tickets or beats, I don't organise that from the cottage.
Andover is the nearest town for bigger shops, about ten minutes by car. Winchester is about half an hour's drive. It's a historic city, the cathedral is worth seeing. The National Trust has several properties nearby, like Mottisfont and Hinton Ampner. Stonehenge is also within a 30 minute drive if you've never been.
In terms of basics: bedding and towels are included, there's parking for one car on the drive, and the WiFi works. No other hidden bits really. It's a comfortable, modern place in a very good spot if you like peace, rivers, and walking.
