Healair is in Aird, on the Isle of Lewis. It's a new, detached bungalow on our croft. The main thing is the view. The big front window looks straight out to sea over the Minch.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. Both have their own bathrooms, which is handy. One is a wet room. The whole place is on one level and is wheelchair friendly. There's underfloor heating and a wood burner for colder days.
You get the garden to yourselves, it's enclosed. There's a gate from the garden straight onto the coastal path. It's a proper path, good for walking. The house is modern inside. Granite worktops, good showers, that sort of thing. There's a useful drying room with a pulley.
You're a bit out on your own here. The nearest shop is about five miles away in Leurbost. For a bigger shop, or a pub or restaurant, you need to go into Stornoway. That's nine miles. Visit Outer Hebrides has a guide to Stornoway.
The main reasons to come are the peace and the landscape. You can see eagles and sea eagles from the window sometimes. If you're very lucky, you might see a whale. The beaches here are some of the best, big white sand ones. Luskentyre is about an hour's drive, but it's worth it.
For history, the Callanish Stones are about half an hour away. The Carloway Broch is closer. Lews Castle in Stornoway has the chessmen in the museum. Historic Environment Scotland has details on Callanish.
Facilities: it's got everything you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TVs, parking. All bedding and towels are included. No pets, I'm afraid.
