Ethel's House

This is Ethel's House. It's in Armadale, up on the north-west coast of Scotland. It's a detached stone cottage with its own garden, right next to a working croft. The views from here are honestly spectacular, straight out over the sea.

It sleeps five, in three bedrooms upstairs, with one bathroom which is a shower room downstairs. It's a 4 Star place, so it's been done up well inside. It's got underfloor heating, which is great up here, and a wood burner in the living room.

The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so they're a bit steep and turn halfway. Something to be aware of if you've got very small children or anyone with mobility issues. We provide a stairgate.

You get the full garden to yourselves, which is fenced. It's a proper sun trap when the weather's good, and people have seen the Northern Lights from there in winter.

It's a brilliant spot for wildlife. It's common to see sea otters on the shore below the house. You might spot whales, seals, or basking sharks out in the bay from the windows.

You're right on the North Coast 500 route here. For a shop, a pub, or a café, you'd drive to Melvich or Bettyhill. That's about ten minutes. The beach at Armadale Bay is about half a mile's walk away, down the track. It's a beautiful sandy beach with dunes.

Inside, the place has everything: WiFi, TV, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can take up to two dogs. There's parking right outside.

If you want to look things up for trips, these are good places to start: National Trust for Scotland Highlands and the official North Coast 500 site.
