This is Seafield House in Lochinver. It's the big white one on the main village road. Straight out the front windows you're looking at the sea, right across to the islands. It’s a good spot.
It sleeps nine people. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. It’s a 4 Star place. It’s an old house, built around 1800, so the rooms feel solid. There are original fireplaces and stone walls. The stairs are the original ones too, so they’re wide but they do have a bit of a turn.
Downstairs there’s a big living room with a wood burner. The dining room has a huge fireplace. The kitchen leads out to a patio and a garden. We get deer in there fairly often.
You’re right in the village. There’s a shop, a couple of pubs, and places to eat, all about a two-minute walk. The harbour’s there too.
The beach at Achmelvich is about ten minutes’ drive. It’s white sand, really good. The whole coast around here is like that. You can walk straight from the house into the hills. The big mountains you can see, like Suilven, are right there.
Facilities wise, it’s got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking for a couple of cars. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring two dogs.
If you’re planning walks or want to know more about the area, the Walkhighlands Assynt page is very good, and National Trust for Scotland has information on the region.
