Altabrug

This is Altabrug. It's our place out at Stoneybridge on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides. It's detached, sat on about eight acres of croft land. You get a lot of sky and a lot of quiet.

It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's a 3 Star cottage, so it's comfortable and clean. It's not fancy.

You can bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed but it's not completely dog-proof, so you'd need to keep an eye on them. The land around is working croft land with livestock, so dogs must be on leads outside the garden.

Inside, there's a woodburning stove, which is good for taking the edge off the evening. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. The WiFi works, but it's not super fast. It's fine for emails.

The beach is about a quarter of a mile walk away. It's one of those white sand beaches the islands are famous for. The shop, pub, and restaurant are in Lochboisdale, about eight miles drive.

From here, you can drive down to catch the ferry to Barra from Eriskay. You can also get the ferry from here over to Harris. For walks, wildlife, and archaeology, you're right in the middle of it. You'll see birds of prey. You might see otters along the coast. There are old sites like the Trinity Temple at Carnish nearby.
