Harland Cottage

Harland Cottage is in Castletown, up in Caithness. It's a detached, single-storey place built for two. No stairs at all.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well looked after. Everything is on one level. The main room is open plan, with a kitchen area at one end and a sitting area at the other. The sofa faces French doors that go out to the garden. The bedroom has a king-size bed and an en-suite walk-in shower. You can get to the shower from the hallway too, which is handy.

The garden is enclosed by an old dry stone wall. There's a patio with seating and a lawn. It's private and sunny when the weather plays ball.

You're about a ten-minute walk from Dunnet Beach. It's a huge stretch of sand, about four miles long. You can walk there directly from the cottage through some woodlands. The beach is good for dogs. Dunnet Head, the most northerly point on the UK mainland, is about four miles away. It's a good spot for seeing the northern lights in winter.

In the village, there's a pub that does food and a small supermarket. Both are walkable. Thurso is five miles south for bigger shops, more places to eat, and a cinema.

For days out, the Castle of Mey is close by. The ferry to Orkney is about eight miles away at Scrabster. The property is on the North Coast 500 route if you're touring.

Facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. The bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside. You can bring up to two dogs. The entrance and shower have grab rails fitted.
