The Old Dye House

The Old Dye House is in Halistra on the Waternish peninsula, up at the north end of Skye. It's detached but next to our house. You're on your own though, we're just next door if you need anything.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's warm, which matters here, and we put in a wood burner because it's nice to have. The stairs inside are a bit steep and narrow. Just so you know.

The view looks straight out to sea. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Outer Hebrides. The sunsets from here are very good. There's a patio area outside the front to sit and watch it.

You're a couple of minutes' walk from the coast. The nearest pub that does food is about a mile and a half away. The proper shops are in Portree, which is about a 25 minute drive. You'll want to get supplies in on your way.

From here you can get to most things on the island within half an hour. Dunvegan Castle is that way. The Old Man of Storr and the Quiraing are over on the Trotternish ridge. Portree has the harbour and places to eat. If you want a calmer day, the Sleat peninsula down south is greener, with Armadale Castle and gardens.

The place has got WiFi, a TV, a washing machine and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. It's all on one level except for the stairs to the bedroom, and you can get in the front door without steps. We take up to two dogs.
