Chapel Cottage is in Pontsticill, in the Brecon Beacons. It’s a stone chapel built in 1867, so it's a bit different from a normal house. It's detached, right on a small road junction in the village.
It sleeps six, but there are only two bedrooms and one bathroom. So you need to be happy sharing. It's a 3 Star, so it's clean and has everything you need, but it's not a hotel.
The main thing is that it’s got proper character. It still feels like a chapel inside, just set up as a house. We've left in some things you don't usually find. There are a couple of old jukeboxes and a pinball machine.
The local pub is about a hundred yards away. The shop is a mile away in Vaynor, so you'll probably want to drive for a bigger shop.
You're right in the National Park here. It's very quiet. You can walk straight out onto the hills from the door. The Pontsticill Reservoir is just down the road. You can fish there, or sail on the bigger Talybont reservoir a few miles away.
The Brecon Mountain Railway starts at Pontsticill station. It's a steam train that goes up into the hills. The Taf Fechan canal is here too, which is good for a flat stroll. If you drive for half an hour you can be in Brecon town, or up at the main Brecon Beacons peaks like Pen y Fan.
For facilities: it’s got a wood burner, a BBQ, a garden with a patio, and parking. WiFi is there. We include bedding and towels. We can provide a cot and highchair. We take one well-behaved dog.
